Imprint Society

The Imprint Society
The Imprint Society was a publisher active in the early 1970s, primarily between 1970 and 1974. They were based in Barre, Massachusetts and were known for producing finely crafted, limited-edition books for collectors. They focused on high-quality printing and unique illustrations, often featuring literary classics. Many books were produced in small quantities, often with a membership cap of 1,950 copies. Their books featured letterpress printing, fine papers (like Magnani or Hahnemühle), and elegant bindings, sometimes in slipcases. Several editions were signed by authors, translators, or illustrators, adding to their collectible value. Books were often designed and printed by renowned presses in Europe, such as Stamperia Valdonega in Verona, Mackay in London, Ruari McLean in London and also Stinehour Press in the USA, and local New York/New Jersey lithographers.
